CLEANING

At Maynard Steel Casting Company, we take great pride in our century or more of knowledge and expertise in tools, positioning fixtures, equipment, and processes designed, made, and used in our foundry cleaning room to correctly clean castings after shake-out, required to remove excess metal in preparation for machining.

Qualified cleaning operations include:

  • Blasting – Process to clean, strengthen (peen), and polish metal
    • Metal shot blast media
    • Booth size 15’ x 15’ x 15’
    • Automated booth table and process, up to 65,000 lbs.
  • Scarfing – Process to cut or remove material off in slices
  • Rough Machining – Process to remove excess stock and prepare casting for further operations
  • Grinding – Process using abrasive wheels to remove material and shape surfaces
  • Chipping – Process to remove hard or dry materials (e.g. slag, rust, scale)
  • Welding – Process to join, unite, and fill material.
