FACILITIES MANAGER

Employment Type: Salary, Full Time, M-F, and on occasion Saturdays, on-call.

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION: Has overall responsibility for the foundry’s equipment condition, functionality, and operation of the facility and all assets, to maximize production uptime available on equipment, minimize upkeep costs, and manage expenditures related to equipment, spare parts, and consumable items. Is an engaged hands-on leader who supports the plant production effort and shall provide high-quality maintenance, repair, and replacement services that enable the plant to meet production goals through continuous improvement techniques, proactive and precision maintenance, team planning and scheduling, contractor management, vendor and spare parts management, implementation of best practices and programs, training, and leading by example.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensuring strict adherence to local, state, and government safety and environmental rules and regulations; conducting safety meetings and training.
  • Planning and prioritizing preventative maintenance schedules that maximize uptime that align with production priorities.
  • Overseeing and optimizing maintenance operations, equipment performance, and production schedules.
  • Assists in and coordinates the routine and emergency maintenance on foundry and manufacturing equipment, including furnaces, media (shot) blasters, ovens, conveyors, hydraulic systems, pumps, motors, and gearboxes.
  • Diagnosing mechanical issues and implementing effective repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Assigning and reviewing work for quality and completion; managing shift and overtime schedules.
  • Making decisions on part procurement, fabrication, or modification as needed.
  • Managing record-keeping, attendance, and documentation on the network for maintenance programs.
  • Training and evaluating employees, managing performance, addressing discipline, and fostering good employee relations.
  • Coaching and developing the maintenance team, identifying hiring and training needs, building a positive can-do culture, and leading by example.
  • Budgeting and managing maintenance costs; ensuring efficient personnel, inventory, and spare parts management.

QUALIFICATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • 10+ years or more of progressive experience working in a manufacturing facility’s environment, including 5+ years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • High school, GED or equivalent, AWS certified welder, journeyman electrician, millwright, or maintenance mechanic highly desired.
    • Preferred skills: Experience with PLCs and basic electrical troubleshooting.
  • Keen ability and expertly qualified to use hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Demonstrated inspirational mentor with strong leadership skills and business acumen.
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills with a high degree of results-oriented action
  • Strong communicator with the ability to communicate at all levels within an organization
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, a critical thinker

  • Ability to lead a team of 6-12 subordinates, influence others, and motivate positive change and results

Training Required:

  • Completes all MSCC health and safety training modules, RCRA Hazardous Waste Required Training, DOT Hazardous Waste training, and passes the requisite test, and the MSCC Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan.

Work Environment: Exposure to high heat, noise, dust, and molten metal in an indoor foundry and production facility, exposure to loud machinery and heavy materials. Requires wearing PPE: On the foundry floor, this position requires a helmet, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes or boots, and hearing protection worn at all times.

General Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Effective oral, written, and presentation communication skills are essential.  The ability to read and interpret schematics and documents such as product and equipment specifications, operating and maintenance instructions, and contracts is required. The ability to effectively respond to questions from suppliers, customers, management,  and other employees of the organization is essential. The position requires PC proficiency with a working knowledge of MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook).  The ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals is required.
