SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:
The Health & Safety Manager (H&SM) manages, directs, monitors, and coordinates all policies, programs, and activities covering employee environmental, operational, and occupational safety and health conditions. Leads, surveys, assures, and enforces company compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to safety and health. Responsible for investigating safety violations and recommending and implementing preventative safety programs. Develops safety systems, procedures, and training for employees and leaders. In a similar manner, as assigned, participates in and assists in fulfilling, solving, and completing environmental compliance issues. Support activities include: continuous improvement and employee involvement activities, team building, health and safety education, implementation of best practices programs, and training.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Ø Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive safety program aligned with OSHA standards and organizational needs.
Ø Conduct routine safety inspections across all work areas; document findings, mitigate hazards, and enforce compliance.
Ø Administer workplace injury response and coordinate with medical providers; manage Workers’ Compensation claims and related case activities. Work to secure and maintain MOD Rate at 1.0 or below.
Ø To recommend terminating, laying off, the transfer, and disciplining employees according to company policies.
Ø Design and deliver safety training, including First Responder certification, supervisory safety meetings, and ongoing refresher programs; maintain training records and schedules.
Ø Investigate incidents and near misses promptly; identify root causes and implement corrective actions within 24 hours.
Ø Stay informed on health and safety trends through workshops and professional reading.
Ø Create, update, and enforce a Safety Manual and policies tailored to regulatory requirements and company standards.
Ø Oversee safety calendar to ensure timely training, audits, and environmental compliance (air/dust collection, water, waste management).
Ø Lead safety committee and facilitate engaging supervisory/employee safety meetings; track attendance, report metrics, and follow up on discussion items.
Ø Drive plant-wide safety awareness through events, visual messaging, recognition programs, and wellness initiatives.
Ø Manage occupational health monitoring and non-occupational wellness programs; schedule required testing and events.
Ø Serve as main contact for OSHA and regulatory agencies; coordinate inspections, respond to citations, and document corrective actions.
Ø Supervise the janitorial team and uphold cleanliness standards through regular audits.
Ø Promote company core values and lead by example in all safety-related activities.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education and/or Experience:
Ø 5+ years or more of progressive experience working in a manufacturing facility’s environment, preferably in a foundry.
Ø 3+ years of [Environmental] Health & Safety administration experience
Ø High school, GED or equivalent.
Ø 2 year college degree with an emphasis in safety technology a plus.
Ø ASQ Certified a plus.
Ø OSHA Certified a plus.
Ø Keen ability and qualified to use hand and power tools and equipment.
Ø A can-do attitude, with excellent time management and decision-making skills, a critical thinker.
Ø Strong communicator with the ability to communicate at all levels within an organization
Ø Demonstrated a high degree of results-oriented action.

Training Required:
Ø Completes all MSCC health and safety training modules
Ø RCRA Hazardous Waste Required Training
Ø DOT Hazardous Waste training.
Ø MSCC Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan.
Ø MSCC SPCC Plan
Ø MSCC Emergency Action Plan
Ø MSCC Storm Water Runoff Plan
Ø OSHA 10-hour compliance training or its equivalent in prior experience.
Ø MSCC complete Health & Safety Training Modules.
Ø OSHA Hazwoper training is desired but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Effective oral, written, and presentation communication skills are essential. The ability to read and interpret schematics and documents such as product and equipment specifications, operating and maintenance instructions is required. The ability to effectively respond to questions from suppliers, customers, management, and other employees of the organization is essential. The position requires PC proficiency with a working knowledge of MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). The ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals is required.

Protective Clothing Requirements: `
Employee safety is a top priority at Maynard Steel Casting Company. On the production floor, this position requires wearing a helmet, safety glasses, steel-toed footwear (as applicable), and hearing protection (where required) at all times. Additional protective clothing may occasionally be required and will be provided by the company.
Physical Requirements:
This role requires frequent use of hands and fingers, as well as standing, sitting, walking, talking, hearing, and reaching. Work conditions include exposure to hot, cold, wet, and humid environments, proximity to moving mechanical parts, working at heights, underneath or in precarious spaces, and climbing overhead structures or confined areas. Occasional tasks involve lifting up to 25 pounds to heights of 4–7 feet and moving objects over distances of 10–100 feet. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. There is occasional exposure to manufacturing noise.
