Job Description
In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing issues, repairing and maintaining various types of power tools. You should have a solid understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and be able to apply your technical skills to ensure the effective operation of a variety of tools. Our ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adept at troubleshooting and problem-solving, and committed to maintaining high-quality standards in all repairs.
Reports to: Manager of Facilities
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose Issues: Evaluate and identify defects in power tools and equipment, including electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools.
- Perform Repairs: Disassemble tools, replace defective parts, and reassemble them to restore functionality.
- Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance services to ensure optimal operation and extend the lifespan of tools, including cleaning and lubricating components.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and maintenance performed.
- Inventory Management: Order necessary parts and supplies for repairs, assist in maintaining spare parts inventory and recommending procurement needs
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols while working with tools and equipment to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment. Ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations and company policies.
- Clean Environment: Ensure workspace is clean, safe, and organized at all times.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems related to power tools.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent critical thinking, root-cause, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Manual Dexterity: Good hand eye coordination and physical ability to handle tools and perform detailed work.
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required; vocational training or certification in tool repair is a plus.
- Experience: Proven experience as a Tool Repair Technician or in a similar role is preferred.
- Strong communication skills: Communicate with fellow employees to properly address concerns regarding tools that are in need of repair or improvements.
- Work ethic: Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment
· Exposure to high heat, noise, dust, and molten metal, in an indoor foundry and production facility
· Exposure to loud machinery and heavy materials
· Requires wearing PPE: On the foundry floor, this position requires a helmet, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes or boots, and hearing protection worn at all times.
Pay Range: $21.00 - $23.00/Hour - Qualifications and experience dependent
